D. Reports D1. President Alyson expressed appreciation for work done by this year’s Board. Next year, possible meeting time/day change – maybe morning after drop off, with possible grade level teacher representatives attending. Suggestion made to alternate between morning and evening meetings, but argument made that this would be confusing.
Planning a CC end-of-year survey for parents to include input on meeting times, donations/fundraisers – if lump sum is the route, then some warning over the summer would be prudent. Stretching out payments is also an option. Plan to reach out to families who joined school after last year’s Art & Music pledge drive. Survey to also include a school section for input about staff, facilities and curriculum.
D2. Superintendent Earth Week was a huge success – thank you Jannet Benz and the 6th grade Green Team. Is CC ready for STAR week snacks? Heroes Day is May 27th. Open House is Hurs, May 26th. Do we still have CC display Deidre created for Water Temple celebration? “Your Community Club in Action” possible title.
D3. Vice President No report
D4. Secretary No report
D5. Treasurer Doug absent;Don gave report. Mr. Strangio and Ms. Campbell both still have $1,000 to spend from Teacher Discretionary funds.
D6. Volunteer Coordinator Jooner’s is working well; Robin will meet with next year’s VC to demonstrate. Suggests a walk-through with room parents in the fall to encourage use of Jooners.
E. Old Business
E1. Earth Week Jannet reported reusable sandwich containers distributed today. Pre-Earth Week trash output from cafeteria was 8 bags/week – cut down to 4 bags during Earth Week and drive to bring only reusable containers in lunch boxes. Trash Relays were played at PE and kids took home relevant facts about ecology. The Altamont grant decision will be made May 9th. Mrs. Schirmer’s class had the highest percentage of reusable lunch containers all week and will get a picnic lunch with Mrs. Barnes.
E2. Spring Fling Kindra reporting. Event is a week from Saturday – buy your tickets! Hawaiian/Tahitian dancers are booked. Childcare will be provided by Natural Bridges Preschool staff at Sunol Glen and 6th grade Babysitting course graduate volunteers. Proxy bids and Golden Ticket Raffle purchases are encouraged for those unable to attend.
E3. School Garden Alyson read Jessica’s report. Garden is almost up and running. Jessica is writing a curriculum for the garden/ecology program – Sunol Glen could be a pilot program. Need $100 per classroom for supplies. Would like to thank Mike and Lily Monahan for their work in the garden . Natalie suggested a set of notecards from Lily’s art.
