Dillon's Garden
2021-2022 Garden Newsletters |
Dillon's Garden is a special place for Sunol Glen School. The funding for the garden comes from the Community Club and it is a very loved treasure; loved by the parents, teachers, staff & students.
During a typical school year, the children get to come to the garden monthly and learn how to garden first hand by weeding, planting, composting and working together. After working together in the garden, the class gets to enjoy a garden sampler dish prepared by parent volunteers made with fruits and veggies that are in season. The kids particularly love the zoodles! We even have chickens in the garden and monthly animal visitors, like llamas, guinea pigs and rabbits! This year will look a little different because we are distance learning. We will start the year by having a "Virtual Garden Project" where the kids will get to plant a seed at home, watch it grow, then return it to school for the committee to plant in Dillon's Garden. We look forward to when school comes back to "normal" and the kids can see their plants growing in Dillon's Garden. We also plan to have a monthly virtual "garden guest" and a garden recipe to share with everyone! If you're interested in helping or have questions, please email us at sunolglencc@gmail.com |
